PG MACHAR

Born Gatmai Machar Bap and known across South Sudan and the diaspora as PG Machar, he is one of the most recognised contemporary voices emerging from the Nuer community. For more than a decade he has dedicated his craft to a single, unwavering message: that music can heal nations and remind a divided people of their shared humanity.

His catalogue blends traditional Nuer rhythms with modern Afro-pop and gospel-tinged production — a sound that is unmistakably South Sudanese, yet built for stages anywhere in the world. From his earliest releases in 2013 to his latest full-length album Ba Ka Ji, PG Machar has used every record to celebrate heritage, honour his people and call for peace.

Beyond the studio, he is a tireless cultural ambassador — performing at unity festivals, leading community initiatives and mentoring a new generation of South Sudanese artists. Whether on stage in Juba, Nairobi or Kampala, his presence carries the weight of a movement: one people, one nation, one song.
